sobering news, and food for thought
He grew up and went to high school with this guy---even stayed friends with him until the last 4-5 yrs or so, when he had just had enough of the dude and the way he acted......Found out that evening that there is a warrant out for his arrest for molesting his stepdaughter, now in high school herself, since she was 6.......6 yrs old......Shellie is just 7 now and the thought of anyone doing her that way just makes me so sick I can;'t take it......
We spent most of the rest of the evening hashing out which kids of ours and others would be most at risk. We asked my sons point blank, and they said no one has ever touched them like that or even close... Shellie was a very picky babe in arms or toddler the last time she was around him, and then only with a parent---like I said, she is picky about who touches her anyway, so at that age, it was pretty much mommy or daddy only......and she was never in a room without one of us to keep an eye on her......
Which leaves my stepdaughters. One of whom ratted him out years ago, when she was just starting to hit puberty and he groped her......needless to say neither of the girls was left alone with him after that......and Ron said if he knew then what he does now.....well he is a protective daddy and considers that kind of thing so nasty.....yeah you get the picture......He talked to their mom yesterday about it, to set her wheels spinning too......
That leaves our nieces, one of whom also ratted him out for groping her when she first began developing......Momma's boyfriend apparently threatened him if he ever came around the house again after that........
The girl's mom was told by the girl a couple of days ago---so she finally had her proof.....I hope they get him and throw the book at him repeatedly until he goes down for the last time.......maybe not a Christian thought, but I am a mom first and foremost....I still think Susan Smith should be driven into a lake just like she did her boys......and I hope the mom can get her daughter the help she has needed for so long so that she does not carry this into her adult life to affect her future........
God Almighty.........
tying up loose ends
Be rude and stupid when you enter a store, taking your temper out on store clerks.....I'm sorry if there was a line outside the store on Sunday morning to get the ad goods, and there were none left of what you came for on Tuesday evening. Call home office and bitch. There is not a damn thing I can do about it, as we did not put the items out for sale early and we at store level do not order or allocate merchandise. It is shipped to us based on what the buyers are able to procure from their sources and what our sales have been for the same or similar items. So griping me out about it won;'t help......as we sold out of stuff on the first day of the ad, I have already notified the DM that we could have used at least "X" amount of each item to get us thru the first day of the ad, much less the rest of the week. I am sorry, sincerely, because I know it is frustrating to not find what you want. But really, it is generally not the store personnel's fault, at least at my store, because we do hold items for the ad.....maybe you want to talk to the lady that bitched me out Saturday b/c I would not go back to the stockroom and get her the ad items she wanted early. my ears still burn from how bitchy she was. But how bitchy would she have been come Sunday if she had not been able to get the item b/c someone had sold it the day before?
Tired of high prices at the stores? Consider this. Payroll is the most controllable expense in most businesses. And in national chains like mine, we are allocated so much payroll per week----and believe me it is never enough for all that is demanded, but I am sure all businesses think that---and if we have to go behind your rear picking up your "Oh I don;t think I want this anymore" dumped items, and cleaning up where you spilled your drink or food and it got tracked all over the store b/c you were freaking oblivious to the fact that you could have caused an accident, then we use payroll and the more we use, and especially the more we have to use over and above what is given, then the money has to come from somewhere, and quite honestly it is not going to come out of the CEO's bonus (sorry, we wish we could have some of that too). So as the cost of doing business goes up, hey so do the prices. Hits us all.......So think before you let your kid run all over the toy dept tearing up jack........or before you just dump half your cart on the opposite side of the store from where it came from....... Yeah I know that's our job, but how would you like us coming into your workplace and tearing it all to hell for you to clean up?
Once again, if you drive up behind me and I am not going the speed limit, check out the vehicle in front of me---maybe it isn't either and I'm sorry about your luck, but I will not pass on double yellow or tailgate just so you can be 3 feet further along than you were...and if you tailgate me, I am going to turn my mirrors out so you can be blinded by your own high beams, and I am going to go even slower just to piss you off.....I know, I've seen me do it..........
Drive on your own flipping side of the road----the yellow line is there to tell you where it is, and it is NOT on my side of it.......
What the hell.......an 8 yr old killed his folks----with 4 shots from a 22 rifle each? Scary to think a kid that young could premeditate that and follow thru with it-----my hubby just explained to me how you have to load the shell before each shot--and the kid shot them 4 times each???????What a f***ed up world. You know my kids get pissed at me, but to even contemplate that?????I cannot fathom it. Kids and parents say all the time "Oh I could just kill you....." when kids screw up or parents don';t give in, but jiminy.......
Auto bailout------don;t......do not.....under any circumstances.......Hey if we could afford the stupid vehicles they are producing, then maybe they wouldn;'t be ready to go bankrupt.......
As far as the other bailouts, I think I had my rant on them before, but now-----did you know they are being re-thought, after the money has already been given out? Did you know that the bailout bill was full of pork, just to get it to pass? Did you know that companies still gave bonuses to bigwigs and resort meetings still occurred? AT OUR EXPENSE!!!!!!!!!
By the way, loved your stimulus check earlier in the year? You paid for that too......
I still loved mine, but the truth hurts too.....
Is there more? Probably, but I have to get my sewing stuff organized and put away, so I can contemplate how to arrange the living room to get the tree up in a couple of weeks. Then I have to clean my daughter's room, best done while she is at school, I think, for the level of cleaning I need to do, since she won't maintain it....so I can get her furniture switched out and moved around to give her more functional space.....yeah, and in the meantime , I have to fix dinner and run errands. Geez people, I am only off today and tomorrow until probably Thanksgiving.....

post election thoughts, as posted by me on CafeMom this morning, comments included
As one of the most historic elections on record comes to an end and we all wake up to hear that we have the first Arab/white.semi black president in our country's history, partisanship aside, we should thank goodness that whatever motivated people to get out and vote, there was a record turnout in all states. People actually got off their lazy asses and voted instead of just bitching about stuff.
That said, you reap what you sow. Obama is not going to pay your mortgage, keep your gas tank filled, or whatever else his supporters think. He IS going to raise our taxes, income, capital gains, etc, astronomically. He has to, if he is going to pay for all those programs he touts as necessary. Universal health care shold be a dead issue by now---the Clintons flogged the poor beast to death in the '90's---but if Obama pushes it through, you may as well buy a book on how to doctor yourself, b/c no way in hell you'll ever get in to see a doc in time to cure whatever ails you. It'll be worse than an HMO telling you how many ultrasounds you can have to check on the health of the baby......or what tests can be run to determine your condition. Remember Europe in general is run this way, and how many of those citizens come over here for health care, b/c they have to wait up to years to be seen by a doc in their own country......
Middle class tax cut???Y'all are gonna be wishing to have Bush back in office. There will be no tax cut---reference the above paragraph for the reason. My husband and I together make about $50,000/year, by busting our asses at our jobs. Nowhere near the $250,000 cap Obama originally had for a middle class tax cut. Which by the way, in the last week, was cut to $100G.
Reap what you sow. From the Bible. Maybe some of you who voted for Obama should actually crack it open and read it. Cover to cover. Understand what you have done.
I will support our country, and the office of President. Doesn't mean I have to like or respect the man actually in it. If you lie to get there, I have no respect for you. And he has. He is not African American, or black as those of us in flyover country refer to it. He has very little black blood in him, by his own admission. Hell just look at his parentage. White, Arab, and then some black. Heck I probably have as much black in me as he does, considering I am from the south and I am sure somewhere in my ancestry some messing around was done between races.......big deal.....
He could not even keep the amounts of his tax cut limits straight. Again reference the above paragraphs. He could not keep his VP's mouth under control. I think we heard more truth from the plagarizer than from the candidate. He is a smooth talker in the tradition of Clinton and that crowd.
Granted, as I reminded my DH last night as the results were coming in, 8 years of one party's rule tends to bring about a backlash in the other direction. No matter who the Pres was. I mean, look at 2000-----if things were so wonderful under Clinton, then Gore should have won. The fact that the pendulum swung the other way should have been telling.
Obama also lied about his Acorn connection and about the Ayres thing. I really don't care if Ayres hasn't bombed a single thing since the Pentagon. It's the attitude. If you surround yourself with people like that, then it is going to rub off. Are we as a nation going to be tested in the months to come? Hell yes. Whether by terrorists from overseas, or here, as we seem to let them in the country willy-nilly, I have no idea. But we will be, b/c Obama is untried and untested and has no clue about any of the stuff he is going to have to deal with. And I am telling you right now, if he bows down and kisses the butt of other countries, especially those that harbor terrorists, as Gore would have done, and as Kerry would have done, even his office will have no respect from me.
This country has no idea what it is in for by electing this man.
As for me, I am goint to turn the TV back to Discovery or something, b/c the self congratulating of the news anchors who pushed this boweevil on us has just gotten on my last nonmedicated neverending pain shooting thru my back nerve. At least be humble in victory.
Hah.

they voted because it was a black man on the ballet and not for the issues .. there were people in line who didnt even know McCain they all said they were first time voters .. in there 30 and 40 and they were voting because of his race not because of the issues.. damn .. no one should have been aloud to vote enless they knew the issues at hand and knew what each one stood for... they say it wasnt a race thing well it was to the blacks....

My 16 yr old son was up when the election was called--I had gone to bed--he said my husband just looked at him and said "this country does not know what it has done." Amen.

In response to the comment from an-angels-mom: What an ignorant statement. Take a look at the history in this country, how hard WOMEN, African Americans, among others have fought to have a voice/vote, how very, very ignorant of you to say that because there were first time voters this year in their 30's and 40's, that they should not be allowed to vote. Maybe this was the first time someone gave them enough hope to propel them to the voting booth. I am saddened that there are still women in this country who feel ANYONE should not have the right to vote.
name deleted Nov. 5, 2008 at 7:59 AM (Delete)
Quite honestly I feel that there are some people who should not vote---first and foremost among them are those who will NOT look at issues--they only look at skin color or feel good statements, and that goes for folks of all color. I don't think anyone who has posted here has a problem with blacks in general voting, or anything like that. But my firm belief is that when one turns 18, they must go register to vote, and they must take it seriously. They must inform themselves on all issues, on all candidates. They must do a gut check on themselves---can I live with myself if I vote for this person? What do I believe is important and does this candidate match that?. Then they must vote. Each and every election. It is called civic duty. And you have this duty b/c you are a citizen of this country. If someone, no matter what race or anything, did not feel empowered before now to vote, sucks to be them. I would hate to have such a loser attitude. If they felt that poorly about themselves or their country, then they should have gotten out long before now and voted for change. Instead of whining about the votes others made. This applies to ALL parties, ALL races, ALL religious views, etc. And while I found the reference post to lack a little subtlety (not a bad thing), she simply states what she feels, and probably is not as ignorant a cracker as you think her to be. She is probably frstrated over the election results, the results of which she will see first hand as a military wife. And you do not have to agree with her, or me, or anyone else for that matter. You have the right to your opinion, but this is my post and i have just as much right to chastise you for your opinion as you do her for hers......
kelsie1967 Nov. 5, 2008 at 8:12 AM (Delete)
First, I do not remember calling her an "ignorant cracker", ignorant, yes, cracker, no. I do not believe I stated anything at all about race except that African Americans, as well as women have fought for the right to vote. The wonderful thing about this country is that we are all entitled to a voice and an opinon. But for you to "chastise" me for thinking that we are all entitled to a vote, I think that is sad. What would our country be like if you were required to prove your adequacy as a voter to fullfill your civic duty? And whom, do you suggest, would say who is "fit" to vote and who is not? I do not understand this line of thinking. Defend yourselves however you may, freedom is freedom. As far as first time voters, you are correct, we should all vote in each and every election, but the truth of the matter is, we all have free will, and thank God for that.
As for her being a frustrated military wife, I, myself was a military wife for several years. Frustration is par for the course, at least some of the time. It is a hard life. And yes, I see that she is feeling frustrated, and worried, I'm sure about the election not turning out as she wanted. But as a military wife, she should be glad our country upholds the freedoms her husband fights for, not ranting that we should have selective freedom for those deemed fit.

I am sorry---maybe cracker wasn't stated outright, but I felt the implication was there. I do not deny others their right to vote, only state that if they felt disenfranchised, that maybe it was their fault and not just the system's. It is in everyone's power to register to vote and to inform themselves. Unfortunately there are those who refuse to do so, either b/c they are too lazy to bother and would rather just bitch about the state of things, or they follow the union/party line. This applies equally to BOTH parties and ALL races, etc. As I believe I stated. And it is my preference that if all you are going to do is quote sound bites from the tv and vote straight party anything or vote the way the union tells you too, or b/c mommy and daddy always voted this way, or whatever your reason is to not fully exercise your right and responsibility, then don't flipping vote.
My husband has a coworker who was a poll worker in a different precinct in our county than where we vote, and he said it was amazing the number of people he would escort to the machine and practically by the time he got back to his place and turned around, the voter would be done, having voted a straight party ticket, as with our ballot there would have been no way to look at each race and cast a vote in 30 seconds. His word was amazing, mine is sad and disgusting. I followed two older ladies out of my precinct after voting yesterday and one asked the other how they voted, and the response was "Oh I just hit the straight ticket---I can't bother going down through all those choices." I would just as soon they had not voted, b/c they obviously didn't give a crap about how that would affect the local races and so on.
As far as being deemed by some power to be fit to vote, yes I believe if you have an uncontrolled mental condition that keeps you from having a clear and concise understanding of what you are doing, such as schizphrenia or such, then you should not be allowed to vote. If you are a convicted felon, etc, as the law states, then you voluntarily give up your right to vote, just as you do to carry a gun. I do not feel that just becasue you are white or black or yellow or purple or whatever, that that should disqualify you. I am not a racist or a bigot in any form. I do judge people on their merits.
Ane then again, I also firmly believe that when you go to vote, you need to present proper ID---state issued or military, with a photo, and possibly also a current uility bill or such other form of proving that you live in the precinct you are voting in. The poll workers do not know me from Adam, and yet no one ever asks for ID. I hand it to them so that they know that I am who I say I am. I handed them my driver's license and my water bill. I think every single person in this country should do so when they go to vote. Imagine the voter fraud this could eliminate---such as that ACORN group perpetuates. It could also cut down on the number of provisional ballots. I also do not believe in early voting unless you are physically unable to vote in your precinct on the appropriate day. Having said that, I encountered lines at my voting place, which I almost never do, and maybe the addition of a couple of extra machines could have eased that some. I understand that Miami and other large cities were still trying to get folks through the system as late as 10 pm last night, hours after the polls closed. That's fine, as long as those who were eligible and in line at the time they closed were allowed to vote.
I also feel that the media plays a huge roll in the election, and not just with the tactics they use in interviews and such and what they play up and down with during the campaigns. Ever since I have been old enough to pay any attention to the polls and such, the media have called elections based on 1 or 2 percent of the vote counted in each race. And have had egg on their face more than once for doing so. Stop calling elections. When the East coast polls close, the West coast still has up to two or three hours of voting.
I pray for this country and its new President-elect.
God knows we all need it.
And I am now done with this conversation. Comments are closed.

ok onto the political stuff.....
Give me a break, people........wake up and smell the jet fuel as your chosen candidate caters to the east and west coasts and forgets about those of us who actually work and struggle every single day to make ends meet and pay our bills and provide a life for our kids.......
Yes, McCain has his faults, and sometimes they can be glaring faults......So what if he, as an opposing ad states, plans to use Palin as an economic sounding board-----Obama plans to do the same with Biden as his foreign policy advisor, and the boy has no experience in the arena. Sorry serving on a committee carries about as much weight with me as being a community organizer does. Zilch......at least Palin can balance her damn checkbook, and that of a town and a state---she has done it.....
As for those claiming we need a change-----you're going to get it.....no matter who wins Tuesday, he will be different than the gentleman currently in office.......And his goals and plans will be, his priorities will be. Because this country is different than it was when Bush took office.......there have been a lot of changes, some forced upon us and some we chose....but the real change if Obama gets the nod will be to our pocketbooks.....there will be nothing in them, because he will tax us to death.......he does not like being called a socialist--too bad--walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, get the picture.........????
I have so much more to say, but I will get to it in bits and pieces as it comes together coherently in my mind........
follow this link
I did, and it hit me hard. I am telling you, if I did not already know where I stand, if I did not already have a firm grasp of what my morals and my character are and say about me, that little article would have force me to do the gut check. Too many out there are not like me, they enjoy having government take care of them, at the expense of those like me and mine, who work our asses off to fulfill our dreams, not to mention working them off just to pay the bills and so on... too many people are content to live in mediocrity or somewhere far below, just to avoid taking a chance that may cost them something in the short run, but could turn out to be great in the long run. Too many are too quick to just say screw it when things don't go their way.
Click the link, or copy and paste into your address bar, and read the article. Now.
