First day of school done and over with, all summer reading assignments done and turned in, vacation about half over, Shellie signed up for fall soccer league, house cleaning coming along slowly, but progress is very visible---garage cleaned out, one yard sale down and at least one more to go, front room with PC is clean, my bedroom has one box and one tote plus one large pile of papers on dresser to go thru and it will be done---nothing on the floor anymore except trash bag of shellie's toys I took from her over a month ago---I guess she doesn't miss them too badly.....
Been quilting---finished BW, Kris's, tye dye, working on new rose project.....
Flower beds weeded, ready for fall layer of mulch. Rose bed needs finished, but looking much better.....
Vegetable garden just about finished for the year. black birds having much fun in it, at least until the BB hits them in the butt.....then the feathers fly......LOL.....

on the warpath again......
Sort of, anyway. I have declared war on my daughter's room and her inability to keep her stuff where it belongs. Yes, Mom, I know she is only 6. but she knows it is wrong to leave her crap all over the house--one of the many reasons for her to have her own room when we bought a house.....So I did take Mom's advice and got her some baskets---made of washable canvas, how's that for using my noggin?---and last night we began what is already proving to be a long arduous task with tears included, hers and mine. Hers b/c I was showing very little sympathy in whether stuff got thrown away or had a home with us still. The deciding factor is--IS IT BROKEN? If yes, then off to the trash bag. If no, then she had a little bargaining room. So far I have her closet floor and bottom two shelves lined with baskets, and we have dug in and behind some of the furniture. One big black 30 gallon trash bag has already left the building, like Elvis, and the next is nearly half full.
My tears were of frustration, as when I walked out of her room after she refused to help me, and told her she was on her own......We have since made up and continued to work on it, with the understanding that I have the final say in where an item ends up. Her dad had already cleaned up the living room and gathered at least a laundry basket full of her stuff that was in there---both in plain sight and under the couches.....He and I both have vacation the first week of school, in about 3 weeks, and we are in agreement that there will be more that mysteriously vanishes from her room. Sneaky and underhanded? Absolutely......It will save the scenes in the long run, as she has the tendency to think everything she owns is solid gold and should remain there forever.
On another note, I have finished buying all the school supplies I am going to for this year. As our county must, by their own policies, supply whatever they are requiring the students to have, I am done. The kids have plenty of notebooks, pens, pencils, etc., to choose from. Shellie may end up with a pack of crayons or something, but I am waiting to see the "suggestion" list---the newest name for the school supplies list. If a teacher suggest the child needs an item, then it is up to me to get it; if they say it is required, it need not come directly from my pocket, although I know in the property taxes I pay each year, that I do pay for it anyway. Also my argument for why kids should ride the school bus instead of driving themselves---besides the, what is it now, 7 or 10 kids from our high school who have died in the past year in car accidents---the last one in 12/07, where 3 boys were on their way to school and crashed into the school bus. Kids on the bus suffered mostly minor injuries, while all 3 in the car died. We pay for the fuel and the driver's salaries, so why not make use of them? Duh, seems like a no-brainer to me.....
I am ready for bed and it is only 8 pm........I guess Ron is on his way to pick Kate up from work, and our next door neighbor has come to stay the night with the boys.......don;'t guess I am going to bed yet........LOL.......

update.........
Chris and Ben are back....we picked them up in CT around 7 pm on 7/18 and got back in fromthat trip the next night about 9pm....I would say they are happy to be home except I am enforcing summer reading--both are in honors and have a lot to do this summer, which they didn't do at their dad's like they were supposed to.........I know our neighbor's son is very glad to have the boys back--he now has someone to play with and talk to that is a little closer in age and experience than his younger siblings.........
We spent the next two days trying to recover from the trip. I was still getting used to the meds the doc put me on after my chest pain drama of the previous week. I think I basically slept those two days.......My birthday was that Sunday, and I picked Shellie up from Mom and Dad's and took the boys with me to do so so they could see their grandsons for the first time in 5 weeks......When we got back home Ron and I pretty well lazed around on the couch, then I dozed off and he went to get food for dinner that night---I got a steak dinner for my bday.........Then a couple of days later, Mom and Dad brought us a patio set for mine and Ron's combined bdays...It is very nice........Thanks guys!!!!!!
Tuesday I went for a follow up w/my doc. Must stay on all meds, must contact them if anything changes at all.......that was also the day the patio set arrived....woo-hoo.....
Wed., took Ben to orthodontist and took Shellie to Tammy's to get pics made at Target of Shel and Erin in the matching sundresses I made for them......very cute pics--can't wait to get them back........Kate got dropped off at our house by her mom just before I left, and Kristin came by after work---and griped b/c I wasn't fixing tacos...........nope too much to do before trip the next day, so they got to fend for themselves on dinner....If she wants tacos she can go to Taco Bell......
Thursday, we all, minus Kristin, who had to work, went to COSI, in Columbus OH. They had a CSI exhibit that was very cool-----we did that the first thing in the door. Kids are all excited wanting to play online now.......We got there about noon and left when they closed at 5 and could have spent a couple of more days there just to explore all the exhibits properly instead of watching the clock........kids loved it, can't wait to go back.......
Friday didn't do too much---I finished up my b/w quilt and am now quilting together the layers of Kristin's quilt. Plus as soon as i got into work yesterday---first day back from vacation, ick.....one of the ladies I work with asked if I could do a bedroom set for her son---nothing fancy, I don't have to piece a quilt together, just basically make a queen size blanket, pillowcases, and curtain tiebacks for his room. If it is really going to be that simple, I'll do it on my next vacation in 3 weeks and knock it out real fast......so she'll have it in plenty of time for his bday in Nov.
Well that's all gotta get ready for work.......

Just wondering
Why people think turn signals are optional......
Why they think dodging in and out of lanes right at the toll booth is the right thing to do? (witnessed every time we cross the Hudson River on I-84, and also on the Tappan Zee bridge further down river)......
Why people ride your rear end for miles (especially in construction zones), only to finally pass you then cut back in on top of you and, as my husband puts it, stick their fingers up their butt and go slower than you were to start with........and then get mad when you pass THEM because they are going so slow.........
Why people miss their exit or take the wrong one and BACK back down the road to proceed to the correct one-----please please PLEASE go to the next exit and turn around to get back to where you need to be........
Why 18 yr olds think it is a good idea to combine credit with their boyfriend's in order to get something they don't have any use for at this time...........sorry I wouldn't combine credit with ANYONE I wasn;t married to... I was even a little antsy buying the van together 3 weeks before we got married........
Why people with a little book knowledge of child psychology in their head think they know how to raise kids better than those in the trenches......and get bent out of shape when you tell them each kid is different and what they are telling you has been tried and does not work on this particular kid.......
Why people will NOT run the fan in the bathroom when they.......take a shower or need to go, if you know what I mean............
Why I can be completely and totally done with the laundry--all washed and dried and put away, and 5 minutes later walk into the laundry room and have 14 loads to do.........
Why no one in the whole world wants anything to do with me until I am on the computer or the phone........I know it is the mommy curse.......
Just some thoughts...I'm sure I had a rant forming in my head...but it apparently didn't like the rest of my thoughts and went away.......LOL

I think......
they hit this one pretty well square on......
You Communicate With Your Ears |
![]() You love conversations, both as a listener and a talker. What people say is important to you, and you're often most affected by words, not actions. You love to hear complements from others. And when you're upset, you often talk to yourself. Music is very important to you. It's difficult to find you without your iPod. |
I think I'm bored........
blogthings is kinda cool-----but silly too......
You Are Country Music |
![]() You are friendly, down to earth, and fairly conservative. You are true to your friends and your upbringing. Change is hard for you. But beneath your old fashioned attitude, you are expressive and artistic in your own way. Very few people can express pain and pleasure as eloquently as you can. |
how sarcastic?
apparently it knows me too well.......
You're Totally Sarcastic |
![]() You sarcastic? Never! You're as sweet as a baby bunny. Seriously, though, you have a sharp tongue - and you aren't afraid to use it. And if people are too wimpy to deal with your attitutde, then too bad. So sad. |
