Sometimes life is good...and then you watch your college team go down in flames. No anything intended, Dad. Anyway, I got off work in time to race to my folks' house and watch the last 3 quarters of the game--an instate rivalry that rarely has had a chance to be played out, and of course my favorite of the two lost. There could be many reasons for this---the other team was better, our team sucked, our team is rebuilding, our coach had his head up his rear....You get the gist of where that is going.....
The good thing is when you start out the season with a loss, you can only go up from there. At least it wasn't a total shutout--we did get 10 points to their 40+. Oh well, I guess you can't expect to have superstars on your team every year like we had for so long in the late '90's and early 2000's.
Wonder how my alma mater (as opposed to my local team) did today?
Wonder if we can get some ringers from the two local high schools to play in next week's home opener at the university? Considering both of them completely blew their opponents out of the water last night: 57-6 and 50+ to ZERO. Maybe the college coach should start recruiting those players NOW?
Ok I know I've got sour grapes, but my ex brother in law is an alum of the victor in today's game and I would rather rub it in his face (like we still talk) rather than the other way around.
That's ok--next year they play HERE!!!!! Home field advantage, baby!!!

No one in his/her right mind really thought your team would win yesterday. But, if you look at the statistices, they were not nearly as bad as you paint them to be, considering the fact the NCAA removed their star defender just before gametime. The quarterback looked just as good as last year; in fact, he really looked better. And remember your star wide receiver was on suspension also.
Your opponent was ranked # 5 in the country. Your team was somewhere between 80 and 106 depending on what organization did the ranking. Take heart, and look at what the #1 team did to its opponent. Ohio State rolled over Northern Illinois 35-12. Remember NI was the class of the MAC last year, at 11-2 I think, maybe 10-3. And your team is only two years removed from that conference. And would put up a darned good game against NI, if not win.
Marshall acquitted itself with class before, during and after the game. Surprisingly, WVU did too. No loud boasting and no whining--except by some fans (who probably never attended either, if any, school.)
Oh, by the way, don't expect too much from Miami this year. Or next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that. Or the yea..............
Honestly I didn't expect them to win either. And yes the sportsmanship on bother sides was much better then the last time they met--'97 or so wasn't it? And I haven't expected much from Miami since Rothlisberger (sp?) left. I didn't mean to paint Marshall in as bad a light as you think I did---just b*&*(ing and moaning after the game, like 3/4 of the area was doing. Marshall has some things to work on, and I'm still not sure Conference USA is the place for them, but they do try.
As far as NIU is concerned--remember, when I was in school at Miami, NIU was the laughingstock in football--always an easy win, like Buffalo when they first hit the MAC. Some habits die hard--like the shock I got when I slipped stations last year and saw NIU in the playoffs!!!
I still say GO MARSHALL!!!! Just because I wasn't happy with the result doesn't mean I don't like them. I'd have quit rooting for Dale Jr. ages ago if that was the case!!!
Amen, but Jr. did come in second this past Sunday. When he's on the track it is always fun to watch NASCAR. Now if we could just slow down Kahne's luck, @$^%**^%%$##!!!
