Peanut butter, Pelosi, and other stupidity.....

I have discovered as I get older, I have much less tolerance of other people's rank stupidity. Case in point--my ex calls tonight (after my boys have tried to reach him at the appointed time again) and his first question to my 14 yr old was "What did you pack?"(he picks them up tomorrow for visitation). Chris' response was right on the money--"Clothes." Just as deadpan as he could get. See, my ex has a problem with what I pack for the boys when it comes time for him to visit with them. If it is anytime in the summer, I am not supposed to pack any long pants or jackets. So I do anyway, just because I have the sense to know that once in a while, it gets a little chilly in the evening, even in summer. I have no idea what he thought was going to get packed for a weekend where the temps have not gotten out of the 20's for days, and snow is expected. Again. I swear next time I will take the phone from the boy and tell their dad that I packed shorts and tanks for them, just in case it reaches the upper 80's while it is snowing.

Geez.......

Of course, we also have the national peanut butter scare. Believe me, I don;t want my kids to have salmonella anymore than the next parent does. I spent the first 45 minutes of my shift yesterday pulling the email about it and then pulling and counting the product off my shelves. As I am doing this, some lady apparently passed thru the aisle just before I got there with the buggy to put the stuff in, and was bitching out the other manager for it still being on the shelf. Not wanting to hear that the warning had just been on the news half an hour before--which we don;t have access to while we are working, and that we had just checked the email screen and found the notice so that we could pull it. Patience, people, we have to have time to react to it. Hell, I was the first to sign off to our DM that it had been done.

So it is back to JIF for us for a while. I never used the Peter Pan brand, but I do use the Walmart version, and it is now in the trash. I do have to say that neither of my kids thus far has shown any signs of being ill, so I figure mine was ok, but I replaced it with JIF anyway.

Next on my list is Pelosi and the gang of rogues running Congress now--and I include quite a number of GOP in this too. Once again, Grow some balls. Stand up for what is right. And what is right is giving our troops the SUPPORT they need and the MEANS to accomplish what they need to do so they can finish the job and get back home. They DO NOT need our wimpy assed Congress passing any kind of resolution saying that "War is wrong, we shouldn;t be there, we won;t fund any more troops. "

Give me a break.

Most of you people in the Congress VOTED FOR stopping terrorism. Whatever it took.

So did Iran or Syria or who buy you off?

Who has you by the nuts?

Sorry if I seem a little crude, but ya know, I am a little incensed at this point. When I turn on my radio and hear people talking traitorously about this country, I blow my stack. When the whiners can;t even back up their positions---instead just yapping about how wrong it is for us to be over there in Iraq, about how many people we are losing over there. And then when asked to back up their whining with facts, they just lose it and can't handle the heat. And then resort to name calling and yelling, and anything to get the rest of us to shut up.

Like a bunch of 6 yr olds fighting over who gets the next turn on the swingset......

No wonder the rest of the world has no respect for us.

We don;t even respect ourselves most of the time.

Go right ahead, vote for Hillary or Obama----reap what you sow, people. More of the same crap that this Congress has forced on us.

Newt for President......

Hey he's the only one who hasn't declared for 2008 yet out of everyone I thought would.....

As Earl Pitts would say, "WAKE UP AMERICA!!!"

Stress relievers......

Cross stitch, quilting, sudoku.......I have tried all of these stress relievers in the past month or so, and thye are quite effective, creating something or solving something without resorting to destruction of something just to make me feel better. Cleaning house can work too, unless I am having to pick up after every single other member of the household--in every room!!!

Unfortunately for me, I had already pretty well cleaned my house today when I had to deal with the cable again (see prior post), so I am now surfing the 'Net and getting ready to bathe so I can go to Fas Chek and get some meat for dinner--as well as a paper---my husband was interviewed about the nasty weather while shoveling snow at work yesterday, so I thought I would grab an issue of the local yellow rag. I usually peruse it online, except for the Sunday edition--it has the Kmart and Target ads in it.

I am in the process of creating what my husband says will be a work of art when I get it done. A quilt for our bed--he picked the colors and we picked the pattern together--now I get to do the work. But it is really not work at this point. I'm stitching the strips together and have made a few blocks to see what it will look like, but I think I will just sew the strips together until I get all I have cut done. Then I will sew into blocks. It is a Roman Square pattern from a Better Homes and Gardens quilt mag I picked up at Wally World a couple of weeks ago. It is also the same one that Kate is doing, only with different colors.

Speaking of which, I'd better get hopping if I want to sew any time today,as we will have Kate and Kris both tonight, and I am sure Kate will want to use the machine.......

Time Warner sucks again.......

Then again, I am really mad at myself for sinking to the level of the welfare b**** that answered at the call center. I called to see why my digital stations were not coming in, and almost immediately was treated to some of the most a**hole behavior I have ever experienced, even from TW. She asked for my address, which as she was speaking softly, and with a pronounced accent, I didn't understand at first. I politely said, "I'm sorry, I am having trouble hearing you, did you ask for my service address?" She then said, "YES!" in a very snotty tone, which set the tone for the rest of teh call, which I won't bore you with, but after several minutes of trying to explain to her that I am unable to move the 300 lb entertainment center which houses the tv and cable box to unplug the darn thing and wait for 30 seconds before plugging in (which I probably would have tried on my own if I could have reached it), I was told that that was my problem and that she could send a tech out, but it would probably cost me $25 if it was something that I could have done on my own. This really aggravated me to no small degree, I ended up asking for her supervisor. After 10 minutes on hold, she came back to the phone to inform me that the sup would be a while, and I told her that I felt I had waited quite long enough. She proceeds to raise her voice, then I told her that I was not going to be yelled at, as I was the customer. She continued to raise her voice so I raised mine and finally told her two little words which I wish I could take back, but at that precise moment seemed appropriate. Then I hung up and called my husband to tell him that he could have the honor of doing the unplugging thing when he got home, and if that didn't work, then I was calling the co. back and demanding that they drop the darn digital from my bill immediately--which will also drop the bill about $15+ per month. Then as soon as I get my taxes back or something, I was calling DISH. My behavior could have been better, I fully agree with that, but the basic fact is Time Warner sucks, Always has, always will. They can blow it out , well, I am sure you can fill in the blanks......

thoughts on the super bowl

number one, I don't watch Super Bowls. The last time I really sat down in front of one was when I was still married to the ex. Divorce was final in 1999, if that tells ya anything. (I haven;t watched any form of wrestling since the split in 1998 either.)
My 14 yr old son is a Peyton Manning fan, so you can probably figure out who he is rooting for. I didn;t have to see the beginning of the game to know how most of the first half was going to go--I am sitting in the dining room making a quilt with my 14 yr old stepdaughter--her first try at it--and I heard the kickoff and next thing I knew my son was all shades of p***ed off. As I can tell by the words he is valiantly trying not to use so I don't knock a bar of soap down his throat. The Bears took the ball and got a touchdown in the first 14 seconds. Not a good start for Indy.
Now it is the 4th quarter, I have given up on the game, ran out of thread for my quilt and the stepdaughter has gone home, but from the living room, I can hear my son going absolutely nuts because things seem to be going the Colts' way.
By the way, Prince's halftime show sucked. Big time. He couldn't even creditably perform his own "Purple Rain", much less the other artists' songs he was trying to cover. He ended up sounding like a really bad Jimi Hendrix. Who I also don;t care for too much, but my husband does. Then again he also likes Metallica. 'Nuff said. (yeah I'm sure someone else out there likes them too.)
A couple of the commercials were cute, but not something I would put my life on hold for. They never are. Maybe I'm just too busy with my actual life to care.
Like my kids would say, "Whatever."

Spanking........

And in conjunction with the rant I just posted, add this. States such as California (surprise, surprise, surprise) are trying to pass or are passing laws to make spanking illegal. Say what? Hello, has no one learned the difference between a spanking and a beating? Apparently not. For reference let me refer you to a book I was given years ago when I questioned how I disciplined my children: "To Spank or not to Spank" by John Rosemond. It defines the difference between spanking as discipline and beating a child, which most reasonable people wouldn;t agree with anyway.
I don;t know who out there has kids and who doesn't. If you have managed to raise your kids to be respectful, responsible, polite, caring people without spanking, more power to ya. I don;t advocate it to be used in every circumstance anyway. I would much rather parent by talking, grounding, etc. But how do you get the point across to a 2 yr old that she is not to touch things? Do you remove the items where possible out of her reach until she is old enough not to break them? Or do you teach her to respect them by making the point that if she continues to do what she has been told not to, there will be a consequence that may not feel very good? I'm not talking about taking the belt to her, I am talking about a light slap to the hand---actually I would put her hand in my palm, and the smack would hit about 1 % of her hand and 99% of mine. She heard the slap more than felt it. But it made it's point. With my first 2 kids, we put everything up. They still don't know, at 12 and 14, not to touch certain things--neither do my stepdaughters at 14 and 16. But my 5 yr old will tell you that you can;t mess with this or that. I couldn;t tell you the last time I spanked her----she is getting old enough to ground from tv, video, cd player, playing outside or with certain toys. But at 2, or even 3, no she was not. I gave up spanking my boys when I married my husband-because I did not believe in treating his kids and mine unequally, and I was not about to spank them and have them scream child abuse to their mom when they got home. My husband also did not spank my boys. We have gotten really good at making them miserable in other ways. Grounding is the biggest because if you can;t have or do something, isn;t that what you want? Makes the point.
But this is another case of where the govt wants to tell us what we can and can't do in our own homes. They can;t even put criminals in jail and keep them there for any amount of time, and yet they want to criminalize how some choose to discipline their kids. Again clean up their own house before they start messing with mine.

club pink, david bell, pelosi, etc.

The biggest thing I have to say to all of the above is PPPPBBBBBLLLLLLTTTTTT!!!!! Stick it up yours, in other words. Club pink or whatever they choose to call themselves does not speak for me or many other AMERICAN women I know. As far as putting Hillary on alert, as well as other candidates as to the need to pull out of Iraq: you know, I'm not real happy we are still there, I don;t agree with many things this President and administration has said or done, but by God he IS still the President, and our troops ARE still over there, and both Bush and our troops should be shown the respect due them by their job title. My oldest stepdaughter tried to back me in a corner one time by telling me she would respect me when I respected her. She was quickly informed by me, and later by her father when she complained, that I was owed the respect due my position as a parent in the household, and she was due the respect of a child of the household. And that respect did not mean I did not hold her accountable for her actions--but that I would hold her to them because I respected her and the other family members too much to let her go unchecked. I hold Bush accountable for the actions he has taken, just as I hold the members of BOTH parties accountable for theirs. This is why I vote. Do you?
Then we have an article by I believe his name is David Bell of the LA times. A lovely newspaper--my local one is bad enough, heaven forbid I should have to rely on the Times for my news. If I am not mistaken, his tale is that 9-11 was not horrible enough for us as a country to have reacted as we did. What did we have to get angry about? We only lost 3000 people, give or take. Other countries have lost so many more and not reacted by shoving a nation into war.
Oh please, get a life and a set of balls. Gonads, if you prefer. Someone, or several someones, take 4 of our planes and use them as suicide devices and take all those innocent people with them. These hijackers did not know their victims, except as Americans. The victims had done nothing to the hijackers except be born in this country and go about their lives. What freaking call did these assholes have to do this to our people and our country? If we had let their actions go unanswered then we would be the laughingstocks, and we would have been under a progression of increasingly severe attacks, because we did not have the balls to try to put a stop to it. Maybe he needs to read history a little closer. Even my 12 year old gets it.
I am seeing where Nancy Pelosi had a conference of some sort with members of the blogging community. Funny, I don;t remember getting an invite to that. But then again, she wouldn't want to hear what I, as a voting white female, would tell her. I would tell her to get over her damn self and do what is right. Fund the troops so that thye can get their job done and get the hell out of Iraq. Quit screwing around with my rights (and yes I know we lost a bunch under the GOP, too) so I can put the Vaseline up and get on with my life. Get your nasty hand out of my wallet--I earned this money, not you. Start holding people in your own party accountable for their actions before you start f****** around with those who oppose you. Get your own hands clean first, then you can throw stones. Otherwise, baby, your glass house is going to come tumbling down in the next election. Remember the election of 1994? When Newt and his gang swept y'all out to sea? It can happen again, sweetie pie.
On another note, those of you who don;t vote need to. That is how you change things. Read the Constitution-----a copy of the original, not the watered down version those in power would like you to read. Read about our Revolution and the causes for it. Don;t read the rewritten versions being taught in most of our schools today---read the true accounts by those who lived thru it. Read about the terrorist acts perpetrated against our country in just the last 30 years.

Then tell me we have no right to fight against it.

You really don;t want to hear what I'll say back.

musings and more.....

Apparently I am not going to upload a picture of monkeys from the zoo. But that is what this week has felt like in some ways.

Off Sunday---it snowed and I really felt the need to go to church, but I'm not endangering my kids to do so. So we stayed home, at least until the salt truck ran and the traffic was moving at a more normal pace--then we went grocery shopping. But I swear I prayed the whole time.......

Monday, Work and school. I got off work at 4 and the district manager walked into my store at 3:30 to do his preinventory check. I left at 4. Boys had All county orchestra auditions at 7---we left at 6:40---it was freezing rain. I quit 5 minutes later, jsut as I was thinking this was not such a good idea. By the way both boys made the cut....Yippeee........

Tuesday, Inventory, 6 am. Great shrink number---only .03 below last year, but at least it didn't raise and we are NOT a shrink store---that means the dm and dm oof loss prevention basically live in your store. Left at 3, picked up 5 yr old. went home, vegged out.

Wednesday, snow day. Starts out like this---I get up just as boys are headed for school bus and one opens door and says hey it snowed. I call neighbor and she says school closed. Yippee. Shellie sick as a dog--she had woke me up at 10:30 the night before with a raging fever and tummyache. I cancelled my PT appt and stayed home--not that I could have gotten there at that time anyway with the roads. Ron came home from work by 1 and I left for work at 12:15---he has 4 wheel drive and my tires are bad, so thank goodness the roads had been cleared by then.

Thursday, went to PT, went to work, stood outside in 20 degree snowy nasty colkd weather for and hour and a half watching my furniture guy unload a 53 foot trailer by himself--only one who could pull the skids--I am not cleared by dr. Came home, went to bed.

Friday, went to PT, went shopping for $1/yd fabric at Walmart and tried to find a Spirograph for Shellie. No luck on spirograph, too much luck on fabric. Went to lunch with former boss who is also a great friend. annoyed waitress by lollygagging at table after finishing meal. My friend paid for meal. How cool is that!!!! Picked up Shellie at daycare, came home, napped, woke up and told boys, home by then, to get firewood in. Spent evening vegging out and reading new quilting magazine.

Just the ordinary BS, I guess.

I've have decided that Little Critter is the coolest set of kids books ever. My kids have all acted like him at different times.

Now little one is in bed, all dosed up because of stuffy nose, and me and boys are going to watch Blazing Saddles. What's that---Did you say the sheriff is near? No dadgum it I said the sheriff is----"GONG!!!"

Can't help it I am going to be rolling on the floor laughing my rear end off in a minute. I think it is one of the most politically incorrect movies I've ever seen--and I love it all to pieces.

Later, gator.....
