her first day.....

Shellie started kindergarten for real today. She climbed onto the school bus at the end of our road and began her journey. Red Harley Davidson backpack with a pink motorcycle on it and her peach/orange Polly Pocket lunch box in hand. Her hair was all in curls until she stepped out into the humid air, but I got a few cute pictures of her in front of the house before they all collapsed. I don't think she knew whether to be excited or nervous today, but I think she will be ok. At least the school hasn't called to tell me I have a hysterical child there......LOL.

I called my dad right after we walked back up to the house after putting her on the bus. I think that is the only thing that kept me from crying. I know, there is nothing to cry about, but I'm a sentimental mommy---I tear up at baptisms, first performances, etc.

Her 3rd cousin is in class with her, so she knows someone who is family. Her friend from across the road is in the other kindergarten class.

Now I only hope the teacher puts her on the right bus after school. I have to leave for a work meeting but her dad will be here. And I'll have him call me when she gets home--I'll still be in transit at that time.

My only question is--where did that little 6 lb baby girl go? Suddenly she is a almost 6 yr old school girl.

Time flies even faster than I thought.........
