Usually Ron and I know where we are going to stop and eat on our trip to CT each year. Usually the Bob Evans in Fairmont, Bridgeport---around there somewhere. (One of us will see the signs for Clarksburg and say "Hey isn;t Bob Evans coming up pretty soon?"). We usually wing it for dinner---the first year it was Burger King across from the motel because we got hungry driving thru NY and all we could find were freaking Dunkin Donuts last year for dinner we stopped in a pace well off the interstate called Apple Valley Inn--it's in PA off I-84, but I don't remember the exit. It's well past Scranton and getting close to the NY line.
In the morning before we pick up the boys, we hit Denny's near the motel (we've also stayed at the same Days Inn the last 2 yrs.---not this yr though), for their humongous breakfast, and then Friendly's in Hazelton, PA for a later lunch.
My big problem with eating out on this trip is that where we live has a smoking ban and so do most of the counties around us. Which means I, being asthmatic, do not have to suffer to eat my meal. I do not have to hack and choke my way thru my food because some ignorant jerk can;t wait half an hour to smoke. Unfortunately PA does not seem to have such a ban, at least wher we stop. And when you ask the waitress to seat you in NON smoking as far away from smoking as humanly possible because you are allergic, you get this look like---sucks to be you, then-----and that just makes me mad, because it is my health and that of my family we are talking about. If you want to smoke, fine, I don;t care, smoke your flipping lungs out for all I care. But do it in your home, your car, on your property. Not 5 steps from the entrance to Walmart, or the hospital, or restaurants. And damn sure don;t do it inside the restaurant.
Now that my rant is over, I really feel like Mexican food from Tenampa. Oh well, I guess I will fix tacos when we get back. I need to go get Ron out of bed, get us both showered and dressed and Shellie dressed and packed, and get on our way. That's the problem with eating out on this trip---we are doing this off our past schedule and that may throw off where we are used to eating.
Vive l'adventure!!!!
