While I am thinking about it....

An article in the HD today talked about a back to school subject, one they have written about every school year for the last few years---appropriate clothing for girls. Everyone bemoans the fact that girls clothing, even for little ones Shel's age or younger, is geared for sexiness, showing off butt, boobs, belly.

Yeah everyone gripes about it---when what they should do is REFUSE TO SPEND MONEY ON THAT TRASH!!!!! Vote with your checkbook----if it shows what it shouldn't, then don't buy it. I don't and won't. I have two stepdaughters, 17 and 15 (almost), and they don;t always bring appropriate clothing to our house---therefore they do not get to go out with me---and I have no problem with that, or with throwing them a tshirt of their dad's to cover themselves with. The rule is, if the pants don't cover any more than your public hair, wear a shirt that covers you to your hips or below. If the shirt bares your belly or your boobs more than appropriate for the setting we are going to, i.e. church or school, you get to wear dad's shirt or jacket. The 17 year old mostly gets the message, but the 15 yr old is following in her footsteps, trying to be sexy---"everyone else is." So I throw her a different shirt, or warn her ahead of picking her up about what clothes I expect her to have with her.

I have gotten the argument that clothes that cover the body can;'t be found. Bull$%$%. Look a little harder. I can always find clothes that cover--and believe me in my size, that's fantastic, because they are downsizing us larger women too. (Things that make you go, "yuck"). I just have to shop around sometimes, or buy a bigger size to ensure coverage.

Shellie wears clothes that are cute--if they are a little small, she changes before we go somewhere. She is already learning what is decent and what is not. Trust me, my 5 yr old is not going to school with her little 5 yr old "cleavage" or butt crack showing. I don't believe in tank tops, spaghetti straps, daisy dukes, short skirts with no short underneath, flip-flops or heels for school. Which leaves jeans, longer shorts, tshirts and pullovers that come down over the waistband of bottoms, and tennis shoes.

Now I'm going to bed.......
